RING SIZE GUIDE

Whether you are searching for an engagement ring or a gift, finding the perfect ring size should feel simple and reassuring. We know that it isn’t always easy, so we have some methods and options you can use. If you don’t know your size or the size of someone you want to surprise, don’t worry, we are here to help you.

WHAT IS A RING SIZE?

A ring size corresponds to the inside circumference of a ring. In the European sizing system, the number is directly the finger circumference in millimetres. If you take a piece of string or a measuring tape and you wrap it around your finger, it is the measurement you will get. For example, if the circumference of your finger is 56mm, your ring size is 56.

It is important to have in mind that the finger is a part of the body that constantly changes, even during the day. Your finger size will vary throughout your life for many reasons, such as  age or a change in weight. So finding a good ring size is relative, a perfectly precise size accurate to the millimetre does not exist. The goal is to find the most comfortable one to wear.

Choosing a ring size is also a matter of sensation, it has to fit comfortably. Secure enough to not fall off but easy enough to slide over the knuckle. A change of just one size is minimal, just 0,3 mm, but it can make a difference.

HOW TO MEASURE A RING SIZE?

There are many possible ways to choose the perfect ring size. It also depends if the ring is a surprise or not, or if it is a piece of jewelry for yourself. Here you have the different options:

  • Asking a professional

The easiest and most precise way to find a ring size is to go to a jeweller or shop and receive advice from a professional. You can book an appointment in our showroom and we will help you measure your finger size. You can try our rings from different sizes and determine which one feels more comfortable. This is the ideal method if you want to buy a ring for yourself or if the person who will wear it can be present.

  • Receive a free plastic ring sizer

Nayestones can also send you a free ring sizer to help you find the right size quickly and easy. Just send us an email at hello@nayestones.com and give us your details.

  • Take a measurement of a ring you already own

An easy method is to use a ring you already own. The ring has to be used on the same finger of the one you want to purchase. This method also works great when you want to offer a ring as a surprise, you borrow it from the person and measure it. Once you have a ring that's the right size for the expected finger, you can download here our ring sizer and print it without scaling. The circle that corresponds to the internal diameter of your ring is your ring dimension. You can also take the ring to a jeweller and it will be measured with a mandrel.

In any case, we also offer a free resizing for all our rings. If you made a mistake or the ring you purchased doesn’t fit well, you can contact us or book an appointment at our showroom and we will adjust it to the correct size. However, if you are based abroad we kindly ask you to cover the shipping costs.

RING SIZE CONVERSION CHART

The finger sizes are universal, but they can be expressed in different international systems, just as clothes. At Nayestones we mainly use the European sizing system. Here are some examples of size equivalence, like the US and the UK:

SOME FINAL TIPS FOR THE PERFECT FIT

  • Measure your finger at the end of the day, when it is slightly larger. Avoid measuring when your hands are very cold or warm because this can shrink or swell your fingers.
  • If you are between two sizes, it is always better to choose a larger size to be more comfortable.
  • Our dominant hand, the one we use to write, is stronger than the other. This means that the fingers of our dominant hand are also bigger. You can’t know the size of one finger of your right hand just by knowing the size of that finger on your left hand.
